Space Shuttle Discovery Launch

Yesterday I took the kids to see the end of an era. We got a good view of the last Discovery launch. It was thrilling to hear the countdown, see the smoke billow up, then the shuttle lift off and soar away with a roar. The only down side was the three hour traffic jam afterward.

This has me thinking about watching one of our favorite movies again, October Sky.

  1. It was Discovery! Challenger was the one that exploded in 1986 :(

  3. We love October Sky. I was born in (and a lot of family still lives in) West Va. It's nice to see something that paints WV in a positive light (mostly). Anyway, I think it's awesome that you got to see the shuttle! Amazing.
